Pinkett Smith opens up about their relationship status in her memoir Worthy. She also discussed that bombshell from her book during an interview with Today show co-host Hoda Kotb, as part of a prime-time special airing on Friday on NBC.
She confirmed that while they didn’t legally divorce, they’ve been separated for the past seven years: “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
Pinkett Smith also said that they live separately, but refuse to get a divorce.
