Idris opened the briefcase.
Inside were property deeds, bank statements, company records, and several sealed envelopes.
Malik leaned forward.
“Father, what is all this?”
“Evidence of something I should have explained a long time ago.”
Idris removed the first document.
“Your father’s financial situation was more complicated than most of the family understood. Some of his businesses failed, but not all of his assets disappeared. Certain properties were held separately, and some investments were not affected by the collapse of his transport company.”
Amina stared at the papers.
“Are you saying he still has money?”
Idris chose his words carefully.
“I am saying that your father is not without resources. However, these assets are not all available as cash, and some have been tied up in legal matters.”
Suleiman nodded.
“After my accident, I discovered that people who had promised to stand beside me were more interested in controlling what remained of my estate. My eldest son wanted me to sign documents I did not fully trust. I refused.”
