His smile faded.
“Eighteen months of unauthorized travel. False consulting expenses. Personal luxury purchases billed as aviation costs. My legal team sent the final report to the board this morning.”
Patricia went pale.
My father gripped the seatback.
“The board?”
“Yes.”
I looked directly at him.
“The Bennett board removed you as advisory trustee at noon.”
Then I looked at Mason.
“Your position with the investment firm has been suspended pending review.”
Then Patricia.
“Your corporate access has been revoked.”
Finally, I glanced toward the captain.
“And this aircraft will not depart with passengers connected to an active safety violation.”
The captain gave a single nod.
Security stepped forward.
Patricia clutched the pearls at her neck.
“You cannot remove us from first class!”
I kept my voice quiet.
“No. But the captain can remove you from the airplane.”
Mason exploded.
“You set us up!”
I looked at him.
“No. I gave you another opportunity and watched what you did when you thought nobody important was paying attention.”
