It was the look he made when he realized I already knew.
Sarah noticed too.
“What?” she asked.
Greg stayed quiet.
I pointed to one transaction.
“Four thousand eight hundred dollars. Three months ago.”
Then another.
“Six thousand two hundred.”
And another.
“Three thousand nine hundred.”
The money had moved from Willow & Hart’s reserve account into an entity called G&S Strategic Holdings LLC.
Sarah frowned.
“What is that?”
I looked directly at her.
“You tell me.”
“I’ve never heard of it.”
Greg answered too quickly.
“It’s probably one of the vendors.”
“No,” I said.
He looked at me.
“I checked.”
Sarah turned toward her husband.
“Greg?”
“It’s nothing.”
Cold settled into my stomach.
Because Sarah’s confusion appeared genuine.
I continued.
“The company was formed eleven months ago.”
Greg clenched his jaw.
I had stayed awake longer than either of them knew.
After hiding the SUV and locking down the accounts, I had returned to those unfamiliar transactions.
