Vacuum or Sweep Before Mopping
Mopping a dusty floor can push wet dirt directly into grout lines. Remove loose dust, hair, crumbs, and debris first with a vacuum cleaner or broom, then mop the floor.
Change Dirty Mop Water
When mop water becomes visibly dirty, continuing to use it may redistribute grime across the floor and into grout lines. Replacing the water during cleaning can make a noticeable difference, particularly on large or heavily used floors.
Avoid Leaving the Floor Excessively Wet
Using too much water may allow dirty liquid to settle in grout lines. A damp mop is usually sufficient for routine cleaning. Afterward, allow the area to dry properly.
Use a Grout Brush Occasionally
Routine mopping cleans mainly the surface of the tiles. Periodically cleaning the grout with a small brush can prevent residue from building up to the point where intensive scrubbing becomes necessary.
