Simply mopping the tile surface may therefore leave the grout looking darker even when the rest of the floor appears clean.
If baking soda alone does not remove the stubborn discoloration, another common household product can provide a stronger cleaning boost.
2. Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
Hydrogen peroxide is commonly kept in household first-aid supplies, but it can also be useful for certain cleaning jobs. When used appropriately, it may help loosen stains and brighten some types of grout.
For stubborn grout stains, you can make a simple cleaning mixture:
Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda over the grout.
Add enough hydrogen peroxide to dampen the baking soda and form a paste.
If necessary, add a tiny drop of mild dishwashing liquid to help loosen greasy residue.
Allow the mixture to remain on the grout for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Scrub using a toothbrush or grout brush.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry the surface.
